CONSIGNMENT 101

Make an appointment and bring in a minimum of 10 items. By scheduling an appointment, you’ll receive the attention you deserve.

No. We offer two other convenient options for those who are too busy or live too far away to get their items to us.

1. Drop off service. For your convenience, simply drop off items without an appointment! Click for more details.
2. Mail service. If you can’t find the time to drop by, box your items and mail them to us. Click for more details.

We accept women’s, misses, juniors and teens clothing, footwear, purses and accessories. We also accept children’s and infants clothing, footwear and wares such as strollers, high chairs, bouncers/saucers, etc.

Chances are if you have a question about an item yourself, then it probably isn’t an item that anyone else would be interested in purchasing.  We look for items that are in perfect or near perfect condition – no missing buttons, no rips, no stains and no other visible signs of damage.

More specifically:

• All fashion items must be high-end designer labels and/or brand-name mall labels.
• All items must also have a designer label or stamp intact.
• All items must be freshly cleaned, unwrinkled and on hangers (except jeans and pants).
• All items must be less than two (2) years / two (2) seasons old.
• All toys, baby items and furniture must be in working order (include batteries if applicable).

We take care of everything for you – no pinning, no tagging. We also offer you three ways to sell.

1. Cash on the Spot. If your items meet our criteria, we can offer you a cash payment on the spot.
2. Store Credit Consignor. When your items sell you will receive a store credit instead of cash. These types of consignors enjoy cleaning out their closets to make room for higher-end and/or more stylish fashions.
3. Cash Consignor. As the name implies, when your items sell you receive either cash or a check for your proceeds.

Very seldom do we purchase items for cash simply because the consignor will usually receive more when their item sells on consignment. However, if you insist on cash and your items meet our cash criteria we will purchase on the spot.

We will display your items in-store for a period of 90-days.  At the end of the 90-day agreement, each consignor is given an additional seven-day grace period to pick up any items that have not sold. Once this seven-day grace period expires, all unclaimed merchandise becomes property of ETCetera Trading Company.

The bottom line, all prices and selections are determined according to‘Label’, ‘Condition’, ‘Age’, ‘Demand’, our customers’ buying preferences and our current inventory. Because it is our sincerest desire to yield the highest return possible on our consignors’ items while still providing our customers with a significant bargain, we must be very selective when choosing our inventory.

As a general rule of thumb, we price items at approximately 1/3 to 1/4 of their original retail price. If an item is brand new with the retailer’s original hang tags, we most often price an item at approximately 1/2 of the original retail price.

Please do not become offended if your items are priced less than you believe they should be or if we do not accept an item.

All unsold items are reduced by 20% on day thirty (30) and other unsold items are reduced by an additional 20% on day sixty (60).  We reserve the right to discount merchandise during sales events.

Revenue for Store Credit and Paid Consignors:

PAID CONSIGNORS:

• Receive 50% for items sold
• Receive 65% for items sold; when at least 15 designer label items are consigned on one occassion

STORE CREDIT CONSIGNORS:

• Receive 55% for items sold

“Store Credit Consignor’s” may use your credit towards purchases at any time. “Paid Consignors” may receive cash payments owed them during normal business hours by presenting a picture ID for amounts less than $20; checks for $50 or more are printed on the first week of each month and are normally available for pickup in store after the 7th of the month.

While we will do our best to safeguard your items, we are not responsible for damaged or missing items - all items are left at your risk.

Any items not sold or picked up by the consignor within seven days after the 90-day agreement has expired (97 days total) will become the property of Etcetera Trading Company.  If you choose to pick up your unsold merchandise we will provide you with an inventory list of those unsold items - - - you are solely responsible for retrieving your item(s).

Here are some additional policies of ETCetera Trading Company:

Items we do not accept:

• Socks or under garments – new or used
• Brides maids attire
• Cut-off or fringed items
• Denim with worn/tattered heel
• Personal monogrammed items
• Used swimwear
• Shoes that are scuffed, stained or worn

Items we are picky about:

• Sizes 0-2. Only higher-end items in these sizes
• Cotton shirts and tees must be higher-end brands
• Maternity items
• Scrubs
• Sizes 20 and Up.
• Target and Old Navy brands on a limited basis
• Furs

Items we accept and when:

• January: Very select winter – no coats
• March: Spring Items
• May: Summer items of all types
• July: Summer items – no shorts or tees/tank tops
• September: Fall and winter items – select costumes
• November: Winter items
• February: Spring items – some lightweight jackets
• April: Summer items of all types
• June: Select summer items
• August: Fall items – select costumes
• October: Winter items – no costumes
• December: Select winter items
